Dr. Zhao's Laboratory at the Zilkha Neurogenetic Institute (ZNI) is seeking a Research Lab Technician III/Supervisory highly motivated in research to become a part of the laboratory. (https://keck.usc.edu/faculty/zhen-zhao/) at the Health Science Campus.The Research Lab Tech III/Supervisor will be responsible for carrying out experiments that will contribute to accomplishing the specific aims of the projects assigned, as funded by sponsored projects and grants. The laboratory is focused on the crosstalk between the different cell types of the neurovascular unit, in the context of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and cerebral vessel disease, as well as genetic and molecular determinants of these diseases. The ideal candidate should have a background in cell biology, genetics, immunology, or bioinformatics. Experienced with PCR, real-time PCR, western blot, flow cytometry, ELISA assay, cell culture and bacteria culture, DNA & RNA & protein extraction, electroporation and other basic bench techniques.â¢Familiar with animal caring and handling and can and perform certain surgical procedures. â¢Have the abilities to handle independent projects and be adaptive to challenges and difficulties. â¢Have strong team building rapport to work as a team is essential. â¢Knowledge on cell culture and in vitro assays is a plus.Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Specialized/technical trainingMinimum Experience: 3 yearsMinimum Field of Expertise: Fully competent and proficient in the operation of sophisticated scientific equipment and independently able to perform complex procedures and techniques with accuracy.
