The Department of Biostatistics at the University of Michigan invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral fellow to develop statistical methodologies for the harmonization of electronic health record data with a focus on transfer learning. The position is funded by the FDA Sentinel Initiative (website), a national effort that leverages large-scale, multi-site electronic health record data to transform how the safety of FDA-regulated products is monitored.
The postdoctoral fellow is expected to collaborate with the research team to develop and implement statistical methods and computational tools for the harmonization of electronic health records data, present updates/progress at regular workgroup meetings, write manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals, and disseminate research findings at professional conferences. We encourage candidates to bring in their own novel research ideas. The duration of the fellowship is two years, and an ideal start date is June 1st, 2021. Remote work is allowable during COVID-19 restrictions, along with a flexible start date.
A doctoral degree in biostatistics, statistics, bioinformatics, computer science, or a related field by the appointment start date
