This position is for a research software engineer in the Computational Biology Program at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU).OHSU is committed to leading the development of next-generation patient care through discoveries made by big data analytics, enabled by values of open access data, open source code, highly collaborative team science, and professional software engineering methodologies. As a software developer, you will develop large-scale imaging, genomics and clinical analysis applications. You will be developing and configuring services that are part of a system of distributed workflows and distributed relational and non-relational databases. You are committed to open-source software and transparent sharing of information, enthusiastic about working in a team that finds quantitative insights in complex data, and an organized self-starter who enjoys creative freedom in solving computational challenges.
Develop and extend image analytics and data management applications.
Integrate quantitative image analysis tools using machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) into distributed workflows and user applications.
Develop software for ML and DL application.
Follow standards for software development, including requirements, design, code, test, quality, configuration and release management processes, and project management.
Work with team members to build common code repository and continuous integration processes.
Provide documentation and user support allowing computational researchers across campus to access and re-use analysis tools.
Bachelors Degree with major courses in field of research and 1-3 years of relevant experience. Additional experience in lieu of degree may be considered
Able to develop ML/DL application
Able to use machine learning libraries and image analysis libraries or tools
Critical thinker, with willingness and ability to learn new subject areas
Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills, both written and verbal
Bachelors Degree with major courses in field of research
2+ years professional development experience and research experience
Experience in professional software development techniques such as:
Use of bug and issue tracking systems
Use of distributed source code management systems
Writing unit tests
Use of continuous integration systems
Experience developing quantitative image analysis or ML/DL application
Experience developing distributed applications
Experience with high-performance computing
