Job description: The Li lab in the Graduate Neuroscience Program is looking for a researcher scientist with extensive experience in molecule and cell biology to join our lab to start working on an exciting project to examine tau interactome using iPSC derived neurons, proximity labeling (biotin ID), CRISPR gene editing, mass spectrometry-based proteomics, and bioinformatics. This project will significantly advance our understanding of the pathobiology of neurodegenerative conditions and identify potential therapeutic targets for disrupting tau mediated neurodegeneration.
Responsibilities • Work independently to develop iPCS derived neurons with mutant tau and proximity labeling technique to examine tau interactome associated with development of Alzheimer’ disease, FTD and other tauopathies • Select and review literature relating to the assigned area. • Actively participate in research efforts by exploring new possible approaches to problems and discuss possible approaches to problems with supervisor. • Write routine summary reports on results of work and confer with supervisor on interpretation of results and avenues of investigation. • Write manuscripts as author and/or co-author for publication

Required Qualifications: • A MS degree, or PhD in biotechnology and one of related experience. • Previous training and laboratory experience in molecular biology and cell biology including molecular cloning, PCR, gel electrophoresis, western blotting, cell culture • Previous training and laboratory experience in fluorescence microscope imaging • Demonstrated ability to methodically design experiments by including appropriate control conditions and interpret experiment data • Independent abilities to trouble shooting • Experience with iPSC cell culture and CRISPR gene editing is desirable, but not required. • Researcher experience in neuroscience and neurodegenerative disease is desirable, but not required. • Experience with mass spectrometry based proteomics and bioinformatics is not required. • Outstanding communication skills – verbal and written • A clear record of publications
