A Research Associate (Post-Doc) position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Sean Crosson in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at Michigan State University.
We seek an excellent post-doctoral associate to conduct research to understand molecular mechanisms of bacterial signal transduction and stress responses. Strong skills in genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, and microscopy is expected. The successful applicant will be independent, motivated, and able to work as part of a collaborative team. She/he will have proven skills in microbiology and molecular laboratory techniques, as well as strong writing and communication skills. Experience in studying how signaling processes influence gene expression and microbial adaptation to the environment will be viewed favorably. Applicants should hold a PhD in a field related to microbial sciences, genetics, biochemistry, or bioinformatics/genomics.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to interact with a wide range of researchers in microbiology, biochemistry, and evolutionary biology.
This is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term position with reappointment contingent on satisfactory performance and available funding.

The successful applicant will have demonstrated skills in molecular genetic and biochemical analysis of bacteria. Skills desired include: strong writing and communication skills; standard microbiology and/or molecular laboratory skills or past related experience. A record of scientific publication in peer-reviewed journals is expected. The successful applicant will be independent, motivated, and able to work as part of a collaborative team.
