Applied Genomics (AG) is looking for a Research Associate I to join our group. As a meaningful member of this team, you will perform bench work related to genomic experiments such as, next generation sequencing, high efficiency qPCR and sample management.
AG is passionate about gathering genome, transcriptome, epigenome and metagenome information for investigators. Our mission is to make these groundbreaking technologies accessible and biologically interpretable for clinical and basic research scientists.
AG enables investigators with experience in sample preparation, quality control or analysis to interrogate the genome. To facilitate this, we have developed wet-lab and bioinformatics analysis pipelines to accommodate needs and enable most genome wide investigations. For more advanced or custom designs, we work actively in collaboration with other Cedars-Sinai cores and resources to facilitate investigations.

The Research Associate I performs a variety of routine experimental protocols and procedures to support the objectives of one or more laboratory research projects in a specific area of research. Assists in general laboratory activities, including maintenance of reagents and stocking of supplies. Files and organizes documents. Keeps accurate and detailed records of experiments and results. Assists in the operation of specialized equipment and machinery. Observes safety standards and procedures. The Research Assistant I will be able to perform routine cellular, micro- and molecular biology procedures including, but not limited to Western, Northern blot, DNA/RNA, PCR, protein extraction, cell culture, Immunohistochemistry, and staining.
Essential Job Duties:
Conduct additional general molecular biology experiments like RNA/DNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, PCR, RT-PCR, ligation, and restriction digests.
Conduct basic QC analysis.
Operate automated fluidics systems such as epMotion, platforms for QC including Agilent, qubit, nanodrop, qPCR platforms including Fluidigm, ABI open access and other genomic platforms.
Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in biological sciences.
Experience and understanding of general research objectives.
Working knowledge of database management, personal computers, and presentation and imaging software.
Knowledgeable in routine laboratory procedures and experimental protocols.
Must possess computer skills to include Excel and Word.
