Three postdoctoral positions in studying interactions of Ixodes scapularis ticks with human Rickettsial pathogen Anaplasma phagocytophilum are available immediately in the Department of Biomedical and Diagnostic Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Drs. Girish Neelakanta (PI) and Hameeda Sultana (Co-I) direct this program. The laboratories of Drs. Neelakanta and Sultana are well equipped and use multidisciplinary approaches such as microbiology, genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, genomics and cell biology approaches to understand the interactions of human pathogens with vectors and their mammalian hosts.
