The Oregon National Primate Research Center (ONPRC) is located12 miles westof the OHSU main campus, and sits on 162 acres of land featuring forested areas, research and administration buildings, indoor and outdoor animal housing, a pond, and 2-mile perimeter walking path. Our mission is to improve human health and the quality of life through the support of nonhuman primate research programs that advance our knowledge of the causes, preventions, treatments, and cures of debilitating diseases. This position is within the Resources & Logistics unit of the Division of Comparative Medicine, located at the Oregon National Primate Research Center, which is a center at Oregon Health & Science University. The primary purpose of this position is to conduct pedigree and population genetic analyses to support genetic management goals for all NHP colonies, and produce genetic metrics, including parentage and kinship estimates for individuals relative to the rest of the colony, the overall kinship within the colony, and probabilistic allelic diversity measures for individual animals. Additional responsibilities include data entry, feature development, and record maintenance for the ONPRC PRIMe Electronic Health Record system, including animal record data entry, data validation, data corrections, preparation of data reports, and coordinating and attending meetings to develop new methods of data entry and support. The position requires data analysis and management, sample processing and management, and routine laboratory duties such as inventory and ordering of supplies and preparing reagents.
