Work Assistant

Position Summary:

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Work Assistant for the Pharmacology department at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.

The primary purpose of the Work Assistant position is to work under the direction of the principal investigator to gain research skills and training to study the role of mTOR kinase in metabolic regulation. Under direction, performs and assists with technical laboratory procedures and analyses in support of specialized research activities of the laboratory.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Works under the direction of the principal investigator.
• Conducts multidisciplinary research in the area of the role of mTOR kinase in metabolic regulation.
• Prepares written reports of the research experiments.
• Gives oral presentations of the research.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant science plus one (1) year of related research experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Familiarity with cancer genomic and metabolomic databases and data mining, and metabolomic analysis of cell samples.
• Possess effective oral and written communication skills.
• Computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
