An exciting opportunity in the field of immunology and cancer immunotherapy has been created in the laboratory of Dr. Megan Ruhland in the Cell, Developmental and Cancer Biology Department at Oregon Health and Science University. Dr. Ruhlands research program is currently focused on understanding antigen presentation and dendritic cell subsets in the tumor-draining lymph node. The labs goals are to determine microenvironmental mediators and dendritic cell intrinsic determinants of effective antigen presentation and T cell priming in the context of health and disease. We seek to identify novel strategies to boost anti-tumor immunity by targeting innate immune responses.
This is primarily a research position, but some lab management responsibilities are also involved. A majority of the time will be devoted to a research project on the role of diverse dendritic cells subsets in priming T Cell responses. Will work closely with the Prinicipal Investigator in pursuing this project and setting up the laboratory. Responsibilities include:
Manage running of the lab, i.e. ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, etc.
Prepare regulatory compliance protocols and ensure they're adhered to
Carry out experiments, analyze them, prepare reports
Contribute to writing papers and grant applications
Bachelor's degree with major courses in field of research and 1 to 3 years of relevant experience
Experience with animal handling, animal breeding, mouse tumor models, cell culture, flow cytometry, PCR, Cloning and Gene expression analysis
Ability to work independently with the enthusiasm and ability to learn new skills as needed
Master's degree with major courses in field of research
4 years of relevant experience
Experience with quantitative Real time PCR, ELISA, Confocal microscopy, dissection, and/or histology
