Dr. Marija Kundakovic’s laboratory (https://kundakoviclab.com/) is now accepting applications for an NIH-funded Postdoctoral Researcher position in the area of Neuroepigenetics. The Kundakovic lab is broadly interested in the epigenetic basis of psychiatric disorder and focuses on hormonal and environmental factors driving sex differences in depression, anxiety disorders, and drug abuse. The recently-funded NIH project is aimed to dissect the epigenetic regulation of brain and behavior by the estrous cycle, by combining cutting-edge epigenomics and single-cell genomics assays with targeted genetic manipulation in the brain in vivo and behavioral analyses. We have been spearheading the research on the molecular mechanisms underlying increased female risk for anxiety and depression and, for an example of our work, please see the following article PMID: 31253786. Our research is interdisciplinary and collaborative and offers plenty of opportunities for training and career advancement.
This is a three-year position, and we are looking for a motivated individual with strong interest in neuroepigenetics, single-cell genomics, and sex differences in brain and behavior.
Animal handling, estrous cycle tracking, and brain tissue collection and sectioning.
Performing genomics experiments including RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, and Hi-C on single nuclei or neuronal nuclei sorted from ventral hippocampal tissue.
Perform FISH and immunocytochemistry.
Data interpretation and analysis, conference presentations, manuscript preparation.
Attendance of meetings with lab members and collaborators, mentoring undergraduate students
PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, neuroscience, or related field.
Candidates with expertise in molecular biology and neuroscience will be given the highest priority.
Experience in molecular biology techniques, animal handling and brain dissection, and/or genomics assays is encouraged.
Previous experience working with rodents is expected.
The candidate should have good written and oral communication skills and the ability to work well independently and collaboratively.
