The Rockefeller University seeks a Research Assistant, Molecular Genetics to join Molecular Genetics. The Research Assistant will support experiments designed to elucidate the neural circuits regulating metabolism. Responsibilities include assisting postdocs primarily with mouse surgeries and behavioral assays and immunohistochemistry, and mouse colony maintenance. The Research Assistant will also be responsible for various general laboratory tasks such as buffer preparation and managing lab supplies and stocks.
Bachelor's degree in science required; educational emphasis in biology and/or neuroscience preferred. Experience with basic skills in mouse handling and genetics, as well as molecular biology preferred. Must be willing to work with rodents. Must be highly organized, dependable, and interested in learning new information and acquiring new skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required, and the ability to work as part of a team. Must be facile in basic math skills and familiar with basic computer software such as Word and Excel.
