Summary Description: The Columbia University Division of Nephrology is seeking a full-time STAFF ASSOCIATE I position available to study the molecular genetics of kidney diseases in humans and mouse models. The projects will employ state of the art genomics and bioinformatics approaches (exome, whole Requires good communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment; experience working in a Linux/Unix environment, and either bash or Perl scripting for system administration/data management; programming skills in R and Python for bioinformatics applications. Literacy in Genetics and/or Statistics is a plus for this position. Experience developing and/or working with microarray and NGS analysis and annotation pipelines and familiarity with, idat, cel, plink, fastq, bam and vcf files are highly desirable. Candidates with demonstrable working experience in academia or the private sector will be given priority over those with only coursework experience.
