Postdoctoral Fellow

Position Summary:

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Department of Radiation Oncology at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ).

The primary purpose of the Postdoctoral Appointee position is to conduct independent laboratory research under the direction of the principal investigator. The research interest of the Feng lab is to study the development and progression of cancer, including cancer metastasis, cancer metabolic reprogramming and tumor microenvironment. Specific research directions in the lab include: 1) the regulation and function of tumor suppressor p53 and its gain-of-function mutants in cancer; 2) the role of tumor suppressors, including p53 and its target genes, in tumor microenvironment and tumor immunology.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Works under the direction of the principal investigator.
• Carries out various experimental and bioinformatics studies in the area of 1) the regulation and function of tumor
  suppressor p53 and its gain-of-function mutants in cancer; 2) the role of tumor suppressors, including p53 and its
  target genes, in tumor microenvironment and tumor immunology.
• Prepares written reports of research experiments.
• Prepares grant proposals based on research conducted.
• Gives oral presentations of the research.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• New or recent Ph.D. degree.
• Strong background in molecular biology and cancer biology.
• Candidates in all but degree (ABD) status will also be considered.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
