Principal Investigator, Dermot McGovern, MD, PhD is looking for a Postdoctoral Scientist to join the team!
When the work you do every single day has a crucial impact on the lives of others, every effort, every detail, and every second matters. This shared culture of happiness, passion, and dedication pulses through Cedars-Sinai, and it's just one of the many reasons why we rank as one of the top hospitals in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
The Cedars -Sinai F. Widjaja Foundation Inflammatory Bowel and Immunobiology Research Institute (IBIRI) is searching for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scientist to be a part of an exciting opportunity within Dr. Dermot McGovern's research laboratory! IBIRI refers to chronic inflammatory conditions of the intestines, including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. The Gastroenterology and Gastrointestinal (GI) Surgery Program at Cedars-Sinai is the No. 2 program nationwide. The internationally recognized IBD specialists at Cedars-Sinai are dedicated to providing outstanding, patient-centered care for the management of IBD, and are engaged in groundbreaking research to help cure these diseases.
Are you ready to be a part of breakthrough research?
The McGovern Laboratory, or the Translational Genomics Group (TGG), is focused on identifying genetic variants associated with both Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis and then investigating their functional effects and also their role in determining disease behavior and natural history, including response to therapy. These studies are designed, in part, to discover new therapies for IBD as well as to enhance our ability to apply a personalized approach to managing our patients in the clinic and to ensure that all populations benefit from these advances. The TGG is an integral part of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases and International IBD Genetics Consortia as well as a member of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation Microbiome Initiative and The Human Microbiome Project 2. Work in the McGovern Laboratory includes significant statistical and computational biology components, and the lab is developing novel methods for integrating multi-omic datasets together with clinical metadata. Working Title: Postdoctoral Scientist - McGovern Lab
Providing healthcare for more than 100 years, Cedars-Sinai has evolved into one of the most dynamic and highly renowned medical centers in the world. Along with caring for patients, Cedars-Sinai is a hub for biomedical research and a training center for future physicians and other healthcare professionals. This attracts exceptional talent to Cedars-Sinai, including world-renowned physician-scientists who seek a place where they can both conduct research and see patients--the ideal formula for discovery and its translation into cures. Our patients benefit from access to doctors at the top of their fields, and our researchers have an ideal community in which to study the impact of healthcare challenges, and reflect that knowledge in their research. The greater Los Angeles area in which Cedars-Sinai resides possesses unparalleled cultural and ethnic diversity which offers outstanding opportunities for translational and clinical research and a dynamic environment for medical education.Although community based, Cedars-Sinai is a major t...eaching hospital affiliated with the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Cedars-Sinai has highly competitive graduate medical education programs in more than 50 specialty and subspecialty areas, a graduate program in biomedical sciences and translational medicine, a clinical scholars program directed towards junior physicians with aspirations to become clinical scientists, and post graduate training opportunities. There are more than 250 full-time faculty members at Cedars-Sinai. The voluntary medical staff, comprised of more than 2,200 specialty board-certified or board-qualified physicians, represent all of the specialties and subspecialties and collaborate with full-time medical staff in the teaching responsibilities of the graduate medical education programs.
