![]() Research Assistant Stanford University The Division of Cardiac Surgery in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery has a long tradition of major contributions in medical research and education, as well as a strong commitment to quality clinical care delivery. The Department is dedicated to expanding the clinical and translational research efforts related to the fields of cardiology, cardiac surgery, critical care, anesthesia, imaging, thoracic surgery, thoracic oncology, and translational science. With an impressive number of sponsored research studies being conducted by our group at any given time, this position offers an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and professional team member. We are seeking a full time, data manager and research assistant to support the clinical and translational research enterprise in adult cardiac surgery. Experience with cardiac or thoracic research is not necessary, but will be a plus. Independent research interests and activities will be encouraged. A Master's degree in clinical research, public health, bioinformatics, statistics or related field. A year or more of experience in academic clinical research is desired. Additional experience in information technology is helpful. Responsibilities will include providing the following support to the Faculty: - Create, collect, manage and clean datasets for use in clinical research. Design bioinformatics processes to manage multiple datasets. - Data abstraction from national registries. Maintain data use agreements with national databases. (CDC, Medicare, NIS) - Work with investigators and the Research IT staff to create, maintain and validate institutional clinical data. (Epic EMH, RedCap) - Work with investigators and biostatisticians on appropriate literature review, study design and statistical approaches to data analyses. - Employ new and existing tools to interpret, analyze, and visualize multivariate relationships in data. - Develop oral and written dissemination of findings for conference presentations and peer-reviewed journal articles. Aid in communications with journals and societies. - Foster collaboration: assist in communication between research teams, assimilate multiple sources of data in useable databases. - IRB writing, processing, maintenance. - Communicate with government officials, grant agencies and industry representatives. - Maintain research compliance for yourself and studies. * - Other duties may also be assigned DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in clinical research, public health, bioinformatics, statistics or related field. 1+ years experience in academic clinical research. Additional experience in information technology is helpful. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED): Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and relevant experience.
