Junior Specialist – Huang Lab The Junior Specialist will work with current lab members, including postdoctoral scholars and/or graduate students, to investigate the role of glia in neural development and/or neurodegeneration. S/he will participate in studies that use mouse models and human brain tissues to understand the contributions of glia, including microglia and astrocytes, in the development and degeneration of neurons in regions that are critical for cognition. S/he will characterize the properties of these glial cells and their impacts on neurons and other non-neural cells, such as blood vessels and immune cells, using immunohistochemistry, RNAscope, and microscopy. Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use and develop their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service.
