![]() Assistant Professor (Ladder, In-Res, Clin X, HS Clin) Director of Clinical Genomics and Molecular Pathology University of California San Diego The Department of Pathology at the University of California, San Diego (http://pathology.ucsd.edu) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body, and seek an academic molecular pathologist to serve as Director of Clinical Genomics and Molecular Pathology in the Division of Laboratory and Genomic Medicine. Based at the state-of-the art Center for Advanced Laboratory Medicine in La Jolla, the Clinical Genomics and Genetics Laboratories not only supports UC San Diego Health's Jacobs and Hillcrest Medical Centers and the region's only NCI-designated cancer center, but also serves as a national/international referral leader in personalized and precision medicine. The Director of Clinical Genomics and Molecular Pathology is expected to utilize their strong leadership skills and expertise in cancer genomics and molecular diagnostics to provide clinical service. Sign-out responsibilities will be shared with other qualified faculty, who are focused on the oversight of the molecular genetic/genomic evaluation of inherited and rare genetic disorders. Teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows is also expected, including assuming the program directorship of an established ACGME-accredited fellowship in Molecular Genetic Pathology. Candidates must have a MD, MD/PhD or equivalent and must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California. Candidates must also be Board certified or eligible by the American Board of Pathology in clinical pathology (CP) or anatomic pathology/clinical pathology (AP/CP), with subspecialty certification in Molecular Genetic Pathology and a minimum of three years of professional practice experience in this subspecialty. Candidates must also have experience in next generation sequencing, whole exome/genome/transcriptome sequencing, and conventional molecular techniques. Candidates with demonstrated interest in the development and application of molecular, genomic, and epigenomic approaches to the diagnosis and management of cancer (both solid organ and hematolymphoid neoplasms), with evidence of scholarly contributions in clinical, translational and/or basic research are preferred. The appropriate series and appointment will be at the Assistant Professor Rank based on candidate's experience and qualifications. Series will include Ladder Rank, In-Residence with secured extramural funding, Clinical X and HS Clinical.
