![]() BLANK AST 3 (Purchaser/Core Billing Processor) Department Description The UC Davis Genome Center in the College of Biological Sciences, coordinates interdisciplinary research in the areas of genomics, metabolomics, proteomics and bioinformatics, and is involved in the training of undergraduate students, graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. Genome Center faculty maintain appointments in various departments within the Colleges of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences, and Engineering, the Division of Mathematics and Physical Sciences, the School of Medicine and the School of Veterinary Medicine. Job Summary Under supervision of the Assistant Director, Administration, serve as a Genome Center department purchaser and Core billing processor. Responsible for procurement of scientific equipment, computers, laboratory and office supplies. Process accounts payable in coordination with the Campus SSC (APIS). Reconcile orders and packing slips, and associated filing of documents. Process billing, accounts receivable, and collections for the six Genome Center research service Core Facilities. Provide customer service to Core customers, both on- and off-campus. Assist in processing travel and entertainment reimbursements, and with miscellaneous administrative duties. POSITION INFORMATION PHYSICAL DEMANDS Lift office/lab supplies and/or equipment weighing up to 25 lbs. WORK ENVIRONMENT Position requires employee to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases may be present. Work in high traffic area with frequent interruptions. Maintain a work schedule during the core business hours. Occasional overtime required during heavy workload periods or to meet deadlines. UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus. Smoking, the use of smokeless tobacco products, and the use of unregulated nicotine (ecigarettes) is strictly prohibited on any UC Davis owned or leased property, indoors or outdoors, including parking lots and residential space. QUALIFICATIONS Required: - Experience with purchasing, accounts payable and travel. - Interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with a diverse population and to research, secure, and/or provide information to clarify situations and/or resolve problems. - Organizational skills to work with changing priorities and demanding workload and to use independent judgment to make logical decisions - Knowledge to interpret and comprehend Genome Center, CBS and campus policies and procedures. - Experience formulating and executing new policies and procedures that streamline processes and improve compliance. - Experience providing administrative support in a business office environment. - Experience in operating computers and associated peripherals and MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook. - Skills to perform mathematical calculations. Preferred: - Experience using AggieTravel and Connexxus. - Experience using automated billing software. - Experience arranging travel and processing travel/entertainment reimbursements.
