Technical Specialist – Molecular & Cytogenetics

Qualifications Include:

• At least three years of experience in a clinical laboratory
• At least one year of supervisory/leadership experience or equivalent combination of experience in quality control review, purchasing, problem solving, and personnel management
• A bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related science
• A current Valid Driver’s License required at time of hire/transfer
• A current ASCP certification required at time of hire/transfer
• Completion of approved structured program in medical technology or equivalent knowledge
• Thorough knowledge of theory, equipment, and technique in molecular genetic testing  
• Working knowledge of principles of quality control and quality assurance
• Demonstrated customer-focused service skills
• Demonstrated verbal and written command of the English language
• Proven oral and written communication skills
• Proven problem-solving skills
• Adaptability and flexibility
• The ability to understand and operate multiple types of department equipment

Preferred Qualifications Include:

• At least six years of experience in performing complex molecular-based procedure under a qualified director
• At least four years of recent experience in performing complex molecular-based procedure. Experience with Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) based test is highly desirable
• At least two years of experience in supervisory or leadership role
• Experience with Next-Generation Sequencing
• Advance study and knowledge of principles of theory and practice in molecular genetics
• Thorough knowledge of principles of quality control and quality assurance
• Demonstrates customer-focused services skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent organizational prioritization skills
• Operational familiarity with wide range analyzers and equipment for molecular genetic testing
