Assistant Professor, Department of Preventive Medicine Biostatistics

The Department of Preventive Medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks highly qualified applicants for a full-time faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Responsibilities include collaborative research, independent statistical research, teaching, and supervision of Master's level statistical analysts. Collaborative research will be conducted within the Quantitative Data Sciences Core at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center at Northwestern University, a biostatistics, bioinformatics and clinical informatics resource for cancer-related research in basic, clinical, and population sciences. Responsibilities will include designing studies, specifying and conducting statistical analyses, co-authoring publications, and developing and providing statistical support for grant proposals. Applicants with experience in collaborative research who are also interested in related methodological research such as innovative clinical trial design, biomarker studies, and analysis of high throughput and ‘omics data, including microbiome data, are especially encouraged to apply. Teaching responsibilities will be one quarter-long course per year in the Master of Science in Biostatistics or Master of Public Health Program. Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. in Biostatistics or Statistics, experience and interest in collaborating with bio-medical investigators, scientific productivity related to biostatistical methodology, excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of multidisciplinary teams. Academic primary appointment will be in the Division of Biostatistics, Department of Preventive Medicine, Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University. This full-time faculty position carries the title Assistant Professor and is part of the Team Scientist faculty track. The Department of Preventive Medicine’s Division of Biostatistics consists of more than 20 faculty biostatisticians who provide a collegial environment, with a departmental history of mentoring junior faculty biostatisticians. As part of general faculty responsibilities, participation in department meetings as well as departmental, school and university-wide committees is expected. Participation in scientific meetings and scholarly activities to build national reputation are encouraged and expected. The start date is negotiable and the position will remain open until filled.
