| Position Summary: Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a highly motivated Temporary Research Assistant for the Department of Medicine – Infectious Diseases within the New Jersey Medical School. The primary purpose of the Temporary Research Assistant position is to assist with specialized research relative to the translational, clinical and epidemiologic studies of tuberculosis and COVID-19. The Temporary Research Assistant will work on assisting with study design, data management, data analysis, and manuscript and proposal preparation under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator. Among the key duties of this position are the following: - Assist with study design, sample/size power calculations, and data analysis (eg. survival analysis, multivariate regression, basic machine learning methods, etc).
- Assist with development of study proposals, IRB protocols and clinical SOPs.
- Assist with collection, processing and quality control of research data and preparation of data analysis, reports and manuscripts.
- Generate, compile and present data with appropriate conclusions, recommendations, etc. pertinent to research activity.
- Collaborate on projects with other students and research interns.
Minimum Education and Experience: - Bachelor's Degree in a relevant health-related science (eg. Biostatistics/Epidemiology, Data/Information Sciences, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering) plus at least one year of research experience, including research conducted prior to Bachelor's degree, or Master's degree or equivalent, in health-related field with training in statistical methods and data science.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in at least 1 data analysis software/programming language (eg. R, SAS, STATA, Python).
- Experience in statistical analysis, computational biology, and/or machine learning, and proficiency with literature in statistics/mathematical models to learn and understand new methodologies.
