Research Fellow
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
The Sethi Laboratory at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School is seeking a highly-motivated, creative, collegial and dedicated M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D. postdoctoral research scholar to join their group.  Our overall goal is to combine clinical observations and patient-derived data with rigorous basic science investigation to yield opportunities for impactful translational advances. Our passion for investigative research is fundamentally dependent upon its power to generate a deeper understanding of human disease and ultimately improve patient care. We are particularly committed to defining the fundamental mechanisms underlying gastrointestinal cancers with the hope that such insight will translate into new prevention and treatment methods (https://sethilab.dana-farber.org/). Preference (but not requirement) will be for research fellows who have experience, expertise, or particular interest in gastrointestinal precancer and cancer research. We utilize molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, and organism models to study stem cell biology, gene regulation, epigenetic regulation, genetic dependencies, and drug discovery. Genome-wide molecular analyses of human and murine models routinely executed in the lab include WES, WGS, RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, CHIP-seq, ATAC-seq, CRISPR genetic screens, and drug compound screens. We utilize genetically-engineered, carcinogen-induced, nude xenograft, human and murine neoplastic organoid, and PDX mouse models to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying gastrointestinal cancer development. Located in Boston and the surrounding communities, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute brings together world renowned clinicians, innovative researchers and dedicated professionals, allies in the common mission of conquering cancer and related diseases. Combining extremely talented people with the best technologies in a genuinely positive environment, we provide compassionate and comprehensive care to patients of all ages; we conduct research that advances treatment; we educate tomorrow's physician/researchers; we reach out to underserved members of our community; and we work with amazing partners, including other Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospitals. Responsible for the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments, preparation of scientific presentations and publications, interactions with collaborators, as well as supervision of technicians or students as needed. Candidates who have demonstrated rigorous basic and translational research during their M.D. or Ph.D. training will be considered. Significant experience in standard laboratory techniques (including flow cytometry, tissue culture, PCR, western blots, etc.) is required. The candidate should be highly motivated, dedicated, and a team player. Highest priority is currently for candidates with experience in epigenetic research and mouse models. Please send a CV, letter of interest, and list of three references to apply. Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is an equal opportunity employer and affirms the right of every qualified applicant to receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, national origin, sexual orientation, genetic information, disability, age, ancestry, military service, protected veteran status, or other groups as protected by law.
