Laboratory Manager, Human Genetics of Infectious Diseases

The Rockefeller University seeks a Laboratory Manager, Human Genetics of Infectious Diseases to join Human Genetics of Infectious Diseases. The Laboratory Manager will manage day-to-day operations of a research laboratory focused on investigating human genetics of infectious diseases comprised of approximately 25+ researchers, including senior investigators, post-docs, and students. Will have oversight of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting; implement and enforce lab and institutional policies, including safety programs and regulatory compliance (IRB, ESCRO, recombinant DNA); oversee next-generation sequencing submissions; and organize weekly lab meetings, including management of a video conferencing system for communication with the Paris branch of the lab. Also, the Laboratory Manager will coordinate material exchange between both lab branches and with external collaborators; delegate and enforce individual responsibilities and management of research support staff; order and keep inventory of general lab supplies weekly; negotiate pricing and contracts with external vendors; assist with budget management; and centralize lab protocols and inventory of essential lab supplies/reagents.

Master's degree required; Ph.D. preferred. Educational focus in life sciences necessary. A minimum of five years of related experience or an appropriate combination of education and experience required. Knowledge of equipment and materials used for molecular and genetic biology required. Must have the ability to work independently within a team environment, strong interpersonal skills including good oral and written communication abilities, excellent organizational and record-keeping skills, and proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and database programs (Quartzy). Must be self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills, and have attention to detail, innovative thinking skills, and the ability to supervise others.
