Research Technician-Beroukhim Lab
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
The combined laboratories of Drs. Dipanjan Chowdhury, Adam Bass, and Rameen Beroukhim are jointly seeking a research assistant to help lead an emerging effort to develop and apply high-throughput, systematic genomic and functional genomic assays to assess DNA damage response characteristics across cancers and normal cells. The ultimate aim of these efforts will be to develop novel diagnostic and treatment strategies across a variety of cancer types. Located in Boston and the surrounding communities, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute brings together world renowned clinicians, innovative researchers and dedicated professionals, allies in the common mission of conquering cancer, HIV/AIDS and related diseases. Combining extremely talented people with the best technologies in a genuinely positive environment, we provide compassionate and comprehensive care to patients of all ages; we conduct research that advances treatment; we educate tomorrow's physician/researchers; we reach out to underserved members of our community; and we work with amazing partners, including other Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospitals. The work will be highly translational and collaborative, with primary mentorship by Dr Chowdhury but frequent meetings with and co-mentorship by Drs. Bass and Beroukhim, and close engagement with cancer and molecular biologists, physician-scientists, experts in genomics and functional genomics, and computational biologists. Responsibilities include planning and conducting experiments, data analysis, and communicating results in talks and papers. A Bachelors Degree or equivalent is required, preferably in the sciences related to biology, chemistry, physics, or computational methods. Prior research experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, genomics, or computational biology is preferred. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented in organizational skills, comfortable in a team environment, enthusiastic about scientific discovery, and highly self-motivated. A minimum two-year commitment is required.
