Tenure Track Faculty Position - Basic and/or Translational Cancer Biology Research
The Department of Biomedical Sciences at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY is seeking exceptional tenure-track faculty at any academic rank who are using genetic, genomic, epigenomic, cell biological, and/or animal modeling approaches to understand basic mechanisms underlying cancer biology, tumorigenesis, disease progression and pathogenesis. Topics of study may include but are not limited to pathways involved in DNA replication, recombination and repair; stem cells; tumor and host metabolism; host hormonal and inflammatory responses; cancer immunology and immunotherapy; and gene-environment interactions. The position provides opportunity for 75% research, 20% teaching and 5% service. Individuals with clinical activities may be candidates for joint appointments within the College of Veterinary Medicine or Weill Cornell Medicine (in New York City).
Faculty in the Department of Biomedical Sciences are strongly funded through various agencies including NIH, DoD and multiple private foundations, as well as internal awards from centers at Cornell University. Faculty conduct research using whole organism approaches to understand both normal physiology and disease mechanisms, leveraging a wide range of molecular, single cell, genomic, and biochemical approaches in their research. We are a highly interactive group, with a strong history of funded collaborations with Weill Cornell Medicine, including ongoing multi-investigator federal grants and joint appointments. The Department of Biomedical Sciences serves as a home for many campus-wide Centers, with additional informal working groups arising in areas including single cell genomics, and DNA replication, recombination and repair, and others.
