Position DescriptionWe are seeking a highly motivated individual who will serve as the faculty member with direct oversight of anatomic pathology informatics services as well as participate in biomedical informatics and computational research within the department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. The successful candidate will collaborate with clinical colleagues in the department as well as with the broader applied informatics community at the University of Washington to help enhance the laboratory information system, develop digital pathology and telepathology pathology services, deliver advanced decision support, and leverage technology-based interventions to improve population health and wellness. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, and administrative skills and to perform education of medical students and post-graduate trainees. The successful candidate will be expected to work with Epic EHR and Epic Beaker. Development of an extramural funded research program is encouraged. This position will provide opportunities to coordinate with institutional programs in bioinformatics, AI, and aligned topics. An academic appointment at a rank commensurate with experience will apply for this position. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Service responsibilities will include at least 50% dedicated to operational and administrative informatics-related activities, with the remainder distributed among diagnostic responsibilities, research, and education according to the preferences and specialization of the candidate. This is a full-time, 12-month service position and remains open until filled with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2021, but is flexible. The position may be offered as tenure-track or without tenure due to reasons of funding. QualificationsCandidates must possess M.D., or foreign equivalent; an M.D./Ph.D. or foreign equivalent is also acceptable. Candidates must be board certified or in active candidate status for Anatomic Pathology through the American Board of Pathology. The candidate should additionally either be Board-certified or Board-eligible in Clinical Informatics or should be pursuing Board eligibility via the practice pathway.
