Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
Located in Boston and the surrounding communities, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute brings together world renowned clinicians, innovative researchers and dedicated professionals, allies in the common mission of conquering cancer, HIV/AIDS and related diseases. Combining extremely talented people with the best technologies in a genuinely positive environment, we provide compassionate and comprehensive care to patients of all ages; we conduct research that advances treatment; we educate tomorrow's physician/researchers; we reach out to underserved members of our community; and we work with amazing partners, including other Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospitals. The Center for Functional Cancer Epigenetics (CFCE) is dedicated to the exploration of the key role that epigenetic alterations and abnormal transcriptional regulation play in the development and progression of cancer. A better understanding of these alterations will lead to better diagnosis for cancer and contributions to the knowledge required for the development of new therapeutics exploiting epigenetic mechanisms. The Center’s organization and leadership represents a very tight coupling between wet-lab and informatics efforts that provides an unprecedented opportunity to advance the field. We are offering a staff scientist position for a very motivated candidate who will perform epigenetics and transcriptional experiments on a wide variety of systems. The position will have a special focus on methodology development and optimization. The candidate will be integrated in a research group consisting of both wet-lab and informatics specialists working together to study cancer using genome-wide approaches at both the bulk and single cell level. Job activities include performing and optimizing a wide variety of ATAC-seq, RNA-seq and ChIP-seq protocols. In addition to producing high-quality data, the role will be actively involved in designing experiments, communicating with collaborators, performing data analysis and writing scientific manuscripts The ideal candidate will be collaborative, self-directed and possess the following: -PhD. degree or equivalent experience in biology or a related field -5+ years Hands on experience in laboratory techniques and principles of molecular biology -Solid understanding of cancer biology, genetics and epigenetics -Excellent organizational, time management, and written and verbal communication skills -Must effectively solve problems with minimal supervision. -Should enjoy working both independently and as part of a team Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is an equal opportunity employer and affirms the right of every qualified applicant to receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, national origin, sexual orientation, genetic information, disability, age, ancestry, military service, protected veteran status, or other groups as protected by law.
