Summary Description:

The Genetics of Lung Disease Research Program at Columbia University Irving Medical Center is recruiting a full-time Postdoctoral Research Scientist. We seek a well-trained and highly motivated scientist to work in close coordination with program members. The laboratory is currently creating novel mouse lines by CRISPR-Cas9 to model pathogenic mutations found in human genetic studies. Several different mouse lines have already been created and preliminary data suggests that they recapitulate human phenotypes. We seek a highly recommended scientist to be involved with studies to discover the pathobiology of these mutations and participate in the design of processes and the implementation of data analysis improvements. Given the availability of these mouse lines and the wealth of laboratory expertise in lung biology, these projects represent an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of discovery science. We anticipate that the postdoctoral research experience will hone a superior skill set that will lead to future opportunities in academia, research or industry genomics and organoid platforms. We investigate the behavior of intestinal stem cells in regeneration of the intestinal epithelium during health and disease, as well as how to manipulate them for therapeutic benefit. We are located in the Columbia Center for Human Development, Department of Medicine, Division of Digestive and Liver Diseases. We are also part of the Department of Genetics & Development and the Columbia Stem Cell Initiative.
