This individual will serve as a bioinformatician and computational scientist for integrative multi-omics projects. The candidate will independently carry out bioinformatics/ computational analyses and interpretation of complex, cutting-edge, high-dimensional genomic data sets generated by next generation sequencing instruments in conjunction with transcriptomic, single-cell and liquid biopsy sequence data. These methods will be used to enhance risk prediction for precision medicine applications. Together with the principal investigator, the candidate will manage, analyze, and communicate data produced in collaborative projects focused on basic and translational research in cancer biology, and will help with publication efforts. Accepted candidates will benefit from the diverse expertise across the computational/statistical and laboratory-based research groups, which have existing collaborations. Ongoing studies include, but are not limited to, mechanisms of response and resistance to immunotherapy, identification of tissue and blood-derived genomic biomarkers of response to therapies, including immunotherapy and targeted therapies. This work involves utilization of already established computational pipelines as well as fine-tuning and development of novel computational approaches. The candidate will work as a team with junior analysts and will be involved in their supervision. This individual will communicate analytical results and details of the computational analyses effectively to the principal investigator and to collaborating investigators.
Develop and apply computational and statistical methods for the integrated analysis of high throughput sequencing studies that include whole genome, whole exome, methylation, RNA sequencing, single cell and/or liquid biopsy platforms.
Maintain and troubleshoot computational pipelines.
Develop analysis methodology leveraging high dimensional multi-omics sequence data, including defining in detail data requirements, data sources and proper data collection procedures.
Develop and implement data collection quality assurance procedures to ensure validity and reliability of study results.
Supervise junior data analyst and oversee troubleshooting of computational pipelines.
Perform data analysis and interpretation; utilize knowledge of statistics and quantitative analysis. Present research data.
Contribute to writing sections of manuscripts/publications.
May present data at meetings.
Supervision of Others:
The candidate will be involved with supervision of junior data analysts and computational scientists in the group.
Equipment, Machine, or Tool Requirements:
Experience with computers and servers and knowledge of Linux/UNIX as well as other common operating systems such as Mac OS and Windows is necessary.
Experience with server configuration and troubleshooting preferred.
Ability to use the internet and web-based scholarly search engines.
Master's degree in biostatistics, statistics, mathematics, epidemiology, or related quantitative field required.
Three (3) years of related experience required.
Demonstrated ability on significant graduate project or additional doctoral education may substitute for experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Doctoral level degree preferred.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience with Linux/UNIX.
Experience with code development, optimization, and testing.
Experience in a sequencing center.
Knowledge and practical experience with programming languages (e.g., Java, C or C++), a scripting language (e.g., Perl, Python), and a statistical environment (e.g. R).
Must be detail-oriented, focused, creative, and independent.
Proficiency in both written and spoken English with excellent communication skills.
Familiarity with common computational biology tools and software packages, such as Bioconductor.
Knowledge of system administration and networking.
