CSHL is seeking outstanding graduate students in Artificial Intelligence to spend the summer at CSHL as NeuroAI Interns, part of an innovative new program at the intersection of neuroscience and artificial intelligence (AI). Our goal is to help foster a new “NeuroAI” field, applying insights from neuroscience to catalyze the development of next-generation artificial neural network systems. To forge this new area of research, CSHL has identified a critical need for a cohort of researchers trained in both neuroscience and AI. Our primary goal is to develop new AI algorithms inspired by neuroscience, rather than to apply AI techniques to better understand neuroscience. The ideal candidate will have outstanding training in modern AI techniques; no training in neuroscience is required.
The NeuroAI program will build on CSHL’s programs in neuroscience and AI, and its existing strengths in neural circuits, rodent cognition, perception, social behavior, neural development, neurogenetics, theoretical and computational neuroscience, synaptic function, and brain disorders. Applications from women and underrepresented minorities are strongly encouraged. CSHL is dedicated to building and maintaining a diverse work environment.
Applicants must be currently enrolled as Ph.D. students in AI programs. AI Students would spend the summer in a lab at CSHL, under mentorship from CSHL’s Neuroscience faculty. NeuroAI Interns are provided with a $6,500 per month salary.
To apply, please submit a cover letter that includes an explanation of your interest in neuroscience, CV and a one-page description of research accomplishments to: http://cshl.peopleadmin.com/postings/17499 Position ID:02786-R. Please provide contact information for two references. Please direct inquiries to email@example.com. We will be evaluating applications on a rolling basis starting on December 10, 2020. About Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory
Since 1890, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) has been a global leader in research and education. The international scientific community at CSHL provides a unique and stimulating atmosphere for doctoral research?an environment where students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty work side-by-side. The Watson School of Biological Sciences (WSBS) was founded on the belief that with well thought-out mechanisms, enthusiastic involvement of faculty, and highly motivated students, an innovative curriculum could be provided that would allow students to earn a doctoral degree in a shorter time than in traditional programs without compromising the quality of their training. The curriculum is designed to train students to become scholars and independent thinkers.
