Job Summary/Essential Job Functions: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, this position oversees the operation of the Laboratory for Research, including human genetics and molecular biology in the Department of Genetics, Genomics, and Informatics. Provides research, education, and development support for the lab.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducts data collection, statistical analysis, and data interpretation.
Develops standardized research designs, as necessary.
Coordinates human and animal tissue sample collection and processing, cell cultures (transfection and maintenance), and microscopy and molecular biology.
Assists with overseeing the daily maintenance of the laboratory, collects and deposits data, and writes experimental protocols.
Collects research data from in-lab testing or research publications and compiles data into usable format by scientific analysis.
Assists postdoctoral fellows and trains and assists students and visiting scientists in cell culture and molecular biology experiments.
Ensures proper storage methods for in lab continued use and disposal methods.
Assists with keeping inventory of received and disposed of cell lines and biospecimens.
Ensures safety compliance of all trainees and students in the laboratory.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
