Department Summary: The Department of Neurological Surgery provides comprehensive patient care services, from diagnosis through treatment. In existence since 1919, the Department offers its services at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children's Hospital, both nationally recognized for excellence. Job Type/Schedule: This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. Essential Functions: POSITION SUMMARY: A Bioinformatics Research Analyst position in single cell cancer genomics is available at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. The analyst will use computational approaches to analyze, integrate, and interpret large-scale genomic data -- with an emphasis on single-cell RNA-sequencing and spatial transcriptomics data -- to study heterogeneity and gene regulatory networks in cancer. Current projects address topics such as the interplay of genetic, transcriptional, spatial, and immunological heterogeneity in brain tumors such as glioblastoma. The analyst will work in a highly collaborative environment, involving extensive interaction with faculty, molecular biologists, computational biologists, programmers, and clinicians. The position assists in developing and conducting research projects, including experiment design, data analysis, and documentation of experiment results. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, bioinformatics, biostatistics, or a related field plus two years of experience; OR a master’s degree in computer science, bioinformatics, biostatistics, or related field experience; OR combined education and experience of seven years. Salary Range: The hiring range for this position is $19.57 - $26.41 per hour.
