Project Scientist Position in Sean Li Lab at Cedars-Sinai Lab Description: Li lab has recently moved from Harvard Medical School to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and is in the expansion phase. Our work explores gender disparities in bladder cancer and our research has led to a new concept of the epigenetic sex. We seek to decipher the sex epigenome, characterize candidate sex-biasing factors, and identify sex-specific therapeutic targets. ( https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6007159/ ). The position will hone research, critical thinking, scientific writing, and leadership skills. It will also provide incredible opportunities to work on translational disease models while being supported by a community of talented clinicians and researchers and to collaborate with various laboratories with expertise in cancer immunology, microbiota, metabolism, etc. Candidates may join ongoing projects to examine impacts of genetic, epigenetic, immunity, and microbiota on the gender disparities in bladder cancer. In addition to bladder cancer, we are also interested in benign urologic diseases such as urinary tract infections and bladder regeneration/repair. Job Summary: Works independently and in cooperation with the Principal Investigator to develop innovative hypotheses and research projects. Thinks independently and critically. Contributes high-level skills to advance the interests and missions of the lab. Drafts original research manuscripts as first or co-author. Participates in grant applications. Takes on supervisory roles to train lab members. Provides administrative leadership and technical expertise. Represents the lab in departmental, national and international meetings.
