An independent, nonprofit research institute based in Seattle, Fred Hutch houses the nations first cancer prevention research program, as well as the clinical coordinating center of the Womens Health Initiative and the international headquarters of the HIV Vaccine Trials Network. Careers Start Here. A Staff Scientist position is available immediately to join the laboratory of Scott N. Furlan in the Clinical Research Division of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in the newly refurbished Steam Plant building.The successful applicant will join an ongoing project to study the biology of Ewing sarcoma metastasis using cutting-edge, single cell genomics. The successful applicant will utilize standard techniques of genomics, cellular and molecular biology. Responsibilities for this highly skilled laboratory scientist will include designing, performing and analyzing experiments, troubleshooting technical issues and mentoring junior lab members. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals and oversee large programs that include collaborating laboratories. Applicants should be highly motivated scientists, with a MD and/or PhD degree in Genetics or Oncology. Four or more years of post-Ph.D. laboratory experience preferred, however we will consider those who are newly graduated with their Ph.D. An ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of cancer biology, and experience with next-generation sequencing approaches and computational biology. A track record of high impact publications and early success in grant applications is expected.
