A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the lab of Dr. Mark O'Brian to study homeostatic control of nutritional metals in bacteria. The project seeks to understand RNA-protein interactions that mediate iron control of gene expression in the model organism Bradyrhizobium japonicum.
The lab is located in the Department of Biochemistry within the new Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences on the downtown campus.
The incumbent is expected to carry out cutting-edge research using a variety of approaches and techniques.
These include analysis of DNA, RNA and proteins,
Mutant screens and whole genome analyses.
The selected candidate must be highly motivated, take initiative, and work well in a group.
The candidate should hold a PhD or MD degree.
The candidate should hold a PhD or MD degree. Experience in molecular biology, analysis of DNA, RNA and proteins is desirable.
