Employment Type: Permanent Faculty Vacancy ID: FAC0003288 Salary Range: Dependent on Qualifications Position Summary/Description: The University of North Carolina is seeking a Fixed-Term Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology. Essential job duties will include the ability to perform high-quality impactful Gene Therapy research relevant to therapeutic development for ocular diseases. The anticipated hiring range will be commensurate with rank, education, and experience. For additional information contact: Matthew Hirsch, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, UNC-CH, email: mhirsch@email.unc.edu Education and Experience: The successful applicant will possess expertise in the fields of DNA damage/repair signaling, cancer biology, stem cell biology, and adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector biology. Preference will be given to candidates with the following qualifications: 1.) an established track record of participation in collaborative, multidisciplinary, multi-investigator research initiatives, 2.) experience acquiring and analyzing high-throughput assay data related to AAV vectors, 3.) the ability to culture, maintain, and isolate stem cells, 4.) the capacity for AAV vector production and ocular applications in small and large animal models, 5.) a working knowledge of advanced microscopy techniques, and 6.) a track recorded of successful grant writing.
