Job Type/Schedule: This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. Department Name/Job Location: This position is in the Department of Psychiatry. The position is located at Taylor Avenue Building. This position is for the Medical School Campus. Essential Functions: POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking applicants for a Bioinformatician position to work with single-cell RNA-seq data from human brains with the goal of identifying and characterizing novel biological insights of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and other neurodegenerative diseases. This scientist will assist in developing and conducting research projects, including experimental design, data analysis and documentation of experimental results. He or she will follow instructions and maintain discussions with principal investigator and other members of the team, designs research protocols, including developing procedures for the collection, verification and management of data, code and test solution. In addition, (s)he will assist with grant preparation and reporting, perform complex statistical analysis of transcriptomic data and write interpretative reports, verify the correctness of the data submitted and makes recommendations based on these analyses. Finally, (s)he will document research topics and prepares and submits papers based on research work to publications and committees for publication or presentation to peers. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, bioinformatics, biostatistics, or related field plus two years of experience; OR master’s degree in computer science, bioinformatics, biostatistics, or related field; OR combined education and experience of seven years. Salary Range: The hiring range for this position is $40,705 - $54,932 annually.
