Requisition Number: 2020-214 Business Unit: College of Medicine Department: Pharmacology/Exp Neuroscience 50000523 Reg-Temp: Full-Time Regular Position Summary: Seeking a candidate with a PhD degree in biological sciences with expertise in autophagy, inflammasomes, and neuroinflammation in the context of HIV and drugs of abuse comorbidity. Preference will be given to candidates with past experience in neuroinflammation. Specifically, the candidate will have experience in isolation of primary glial cells, and expertise in investigating the role of autophagy, inflammasomes, long non-coding RNAs, and microRNAs in rodents and macaques samples. Additionally, the candidate will have technical skills to apply various state of the art biochemical tools to understand these complex molecular functions in the brain. Desirably, the candidate should have sound knowledge in molecular neurobiology and bioinformatics with ability to deal the next-generation sequencing data. Work will include both in vitro and in vivo models involving cell culture and rodent models of HAND respectively. Candidate should be able to work in a team, develop research ideas and mentor technicians and students in the lab.
