Join a Team that Lives to Improve Lives People come to Genentech from across disciplines and across the world to solve our most challenging medical conditions. You’ll find inspiration in our passion for biotechnology, our purpose to positively impact the lives of millions of patients and our dedication to our people. Joining Genentech means being part of a tradition of inquiry that will change the world. It means embracing our failures as much as our successes. It requires a willingness to look beyond the edge of what's possible. And a focus on doing the day-to-day work that makes great science happen.
The following opportunity exists in our South San Francisco, CA headquarters:
The Senior Scientist is a highly motivated senior-level scientist who leads the development, evaluation and implementation of state-of-the-art quantitative bioanalytical PK/ADA/soluble biomarker methods, and defines immunogenicity strategies and guides data interpretation to support biopharmaceuticals in the Cancer ImmunoOncology product development pipeline at Genentech.
The Senior Scientist leads the development of novel assay methods in support for Cancer ImmunoOncology biologics drug development candidates. These methods may be used to quantitate biotherapeutic levels, to detect and characterize immune responses evoked by the therapeutic, to measure biomarkers, or for biological characterization of drug candidates. This individual may lead experienced Scientists and Scientific Researchers who are actively working in the laboratory to develop a range of quantitative bioanalytical methods in support of biotherapeutics. The Senior Scientist will ensure the use of best practices including utilization of cutting-edge technology platforms, adoption of standardized practices by having a thorough understanding of relevant regulatory guidance and associated white papers, be familiar with automation systems as applicable, as well as, statistically based experimental design, in a safe working environment.
This individual is responsible for developing strategies for Health Authority interactions, writing and reviewing sections for regulatory filings related to bioanalytical methods, immunogenicity, characterization of biological activity and data interpretation. Additionally, this individual will represent the department on cross-functional project teams, lead bioanalytical or may lead pharmacology subteams.
This individual is expected to be a mentor for a recognized area of technical expertise within the department, and may be involved with assessment and implementation of new bioanalytical technologies, methods and immunogenicity strategies to meet the needs of an evolving Cancer ImmunoOncology portfolio that may include novel molecular entities and modalities. This individual may also be asked to lead technical teams or initiatives. A Senior Scientist typically manages a highly productive group of more junior staff. This will include proactive management of the scientific output of reports, and mentoring career development, along with strategic guidance and effective resource capacity management.
Who You Are
A Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Immunology, or Cell Biology or a related field and extensive postdoctoral and industrial experience in bioanalytical aspects of biopharmaceutical development are required.
A strong background in immunology, immunochemistry, biochemistry, cellular or molecular biology is also required, along with a track record of solving complex biological problems.
This individual must have excellent interpersonal and both oral and written communication skills, along with an extensive track record of successfully developing bioanalytical methods and designing immunogenicity strategy for Cancer ImmunoOncology biopharmaceuticals.
Familiarity with regulatory agency interactions is essential.
This individual should have demonstrated the ability to think strategically, anticipate and identify key issues, facilitate problem solving and resolution.
This individual should also have the ability to influence those who do not directly report to them through a combination of effective participation in, and leadership of teams.
