Posted Job Title Associate Director, Correlative and Translational StudiesJob Profile Title Associate Director EJob Description Summary Under direction of the Principal Investigator, this position will assist in managing translational research necessary to move novel cell therapies developed in the laboratory into early phase clinical trials under an academic-industry alliance. The position will interact accordingly with the manufacturing, regulatory, clinical and laboratory groups both within and outside of Penn to develop protocols, reagents, and standardized operating procedures, and to supervise the quality assurance program. The position will perform technical studies in support of preclinical, correlative, and translational assays and also assist in operational and contractual relationships with external research or funding organizations.Job Description This position serves as the correlative and translational research study director for the Payne laboratory. The position will be responsible for preclinical studies as well as correlative and translational studies for novel cell therapies in development. The position will also perform technical studies in support of manufacturing and translational milestones associated with assigned projects. The position requires interaction with the translational research, regulatory, clinical, and laboratory teams at the University of Pennsylvania to develop new protocols, reagents, standardized operating procedures, and quality assurance and external audit documents. The candidate will assist in all Payne laboratory operational and technical issues relating to the Penn-Cabaletta Alliance. The position will also assist in managing relationships with other academic laboratories, external quality assurance auditors, and external research organizations. The Associate Director will participate in project planning and reporting, as well as contract and budget management. The position may require alternative work hours based on patient sample availability or other responsibilities. Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent degree and at least 2 years of academic and/or industry experience required, with a proven history of management or scientific leadership skills. The individual must have strong working knowledge of cell therapy and training in immunology at the graduate and/or postdoctoral level. Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills is required. The ability to interact with individuals with widely varied education, priorities, and personalities is needed. Ability to work quickly and accurately under deadline pressures is required. Superior computer skills with MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, FlowJo, and vector management software is required. Basic bioinformatics knowledge preferred. Knowledge of GLP and GMP is preferred.
