Projects will utilize genome-scale forward genetics and molecular biology to elucidate the mechanisms Mycobacterium tuberculosis uses to survive antibiotic therapy and to persist in the host. Research responsibilities include molecular cloning, tissue culture, gene expression analysis, next-generation sequencing, and working with cellular and animal models. Laboratory administration and management responsibilities include maintaining laboratory databases, procedures, and protocols; and serving as a primary point of contact between the laboratory and vendors, the University, IACUC, and EHS. The Research Specialist will ensure that laboratory members comply with all laboratory rules and regulations, and provide training when necessary, including in BSL2 and BSL3 practices.
