Position Description: The Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting a non-tenure track junior faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor to join the Division of Gerontology.
Candidates engaged in or successfully completing NIH career development awards and who are on the path to further funding are strongly preferred.
About the Division of Gerontology:
The division's seven faculty members have ongoing multidisciplinary research programs in hip fracture recovery, mobile health technologies, long-term care, women's health, chronic care and disease management, trauma and emergency care, and methods for studying older persons. Gerontology division faculty collaborate with others throughout the University of Maryland Baltimore campus, which includes six professional schools (medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, social work, and law), other University of Maryland campuses, as well as those in other academic and industry settings. The division also is the administrative home for the campus-wide Center for Research on Aging and the Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center.
About the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health
The department, which comprises 45 full-time faculty members, has strong research programs in cancer epidemiology, genomic and infectious disease epidemiology, translational toxicology, biostatistics, preventive medicine, and health disparities and population health. The department is also the home for doctoral degree programs in Epidemiology and Human Genetics, and in Gerontology, as well as Master's programs in epidemiology, clinical research, and public health.
Qualifications: A doctoral (Ph.D., MD/PhD) in Epidemiology, Public Health, Psychology, or related field is preferred. The successful applicant will have a demonstrated track record of scientific productivity reflected in peer-reviewed publications and sponsored research experience, preferably in the form of a career development award. Candidates must be interested in collaboration with colleagues in multiple disciplines.
